New Direction Fertility Centers: The Value of Having the Right Partners

New Direction Fertility Centers are redefining fertility practices, delivering high quality, affordable care. Their collective expertise and futuristic, innovative onsite labs play a major role in producing some of the top pregnancy results in the country. In addition to their three locations in Arizona, New Direction recently announced the opening of their newest clinic in Las Vegas. Like their other facilities, all counseling, tests and procedures are done in-house and open daily—even on weekends, providing convenience and accessibility that has come to be associated with their overall exceptional standard of care.

Dr. Mark Amols, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., is Founder and Medical Director of New Direction. Dr. Amols believes the environment he provides for his patients is a reflection of his philosophy and approach to patient care. “The atmosphere we create has to be restful, pleasant, clean and modern. Aesthetics are subliminal, and the way a space is designed says something to patients. I want ours to make them feel comfortable and taken care of at a time when many are anxious.”

Falkbuilt Partnership

In his Arizona clinics, Dr. Amols used conventional construction and there were issues with timing, mistakes, durability, customization, and a dirty construction site. Dr. Amols was connected with Meso Built and their GM, Chad Smed, through Cushman Wakefield to build the cabinetry for the Gilbert and Scottsdale locations. When the Las Vegas clinic was being planned, he was introduced to Falkbuilt—a prefabricated interior construction company that partners with Meso Built. Falkbuilt is an alternative to traditional construction.

“When I first saw the product during a tour, I couldn’t believe the quality,” says Dr. Amols. “The textures and custom options blew my mind. We had a great experience with Chad and Meso Built on our other projects. I decided I wanted to work with Falkbuilt and Meso for our Las Vegas clinic.”

Chad worked closely with the Falkbuilt team to develop the interior build out of the space. “One interesting part I did not expect was the accuracy of the rendering. We tweaked what we wanted to refine, and it came out exactly as requested,” said Amols. Chad describes Mark as someone who runs a “tight ship”. “He’s frugal but appreciates value”. One of the highest criterion was a clean construction site. New Direction clinics have a revolutionary air filtration system, which removes pathogens and other contaminants from the air more effectively than any other system available. It is essential that it stay pristine and traditional construction can substantially contaminate the environment. Mark immediately appreciated how the benefits of precision cut components, which install much faster and cleaner than conventional building methods, with zero toxins and no dust, could impact his project and his business. Additionally, the 100% year one bonus depreciation introduced in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act for materials acquired and placed in service after January 2025 was another key advantage for the practice.

Chad described the final design as “stunning.”

“It is absolutely one of the most impressive installations we have ever done. The walls, doors, millwork…heavy on imagery with imbedded graphics, LED lighting, and custom pieces check every box. Together it makes a bold aesthetic statement.”

One-Stop Shop

Once the interior construction was finalized, it was time to consider the furniture. Chad called in Laura Davis, an account manager for Atmosphere—a sister company to Meso Built. Laura and Jen Scherr, a designer on her team, had to develop a compelling package that complemented built interiors. “We worked with Mark and his designer,” explains Laura. “We wanted to find the right mix of products to reflect their “voice” and address all their criteria. With some of the custom pieces they wanted, it was a challenge to reconcile their aesthetic desires with the budget we were given, but we worked with Steelcase and put together a great package.”

Jen served as a critical resource on product and material knowledge to ensure the furniture integrated seamlessly with the Falk solutions and overall layout, specifying thoughtful patterns, textures and finishes that tied back to the architectural palette. “I helped bridge the gap between healthcare-grade performance and New Direction’s desire for a light, airy, and contemporary aesthetic. This meant identifying products that could meet the durability, cleanability and safety standards while still feeling warm and inviting for patients and staff alike.”

Chad says that this project emphasizes the value of the right partners and the “one stop shop” that the Meso Built-Falkbuilt-Atmosphere team represent.

Dr. Amols has the last word: “I love Chad. Commercial building never goes perfect, but Chad works and finds solutions before any big problems can arise.”

“We will use Falkbuilt, Meso and Atmosphere again. Better quality. Better ingredients. Cannot talk about Meso and Falkbuilt in the same breath as conventional—the timing and the products are simply superior. I cannot imagine using anyone else. Our space is gorgeous and it is a source of pride. In a building full of clinics, people notice ours is different.”
